Wal-Mart Pharmacy Review
Pharmacist Saving Lives and Families - Vicodin
Recently I had knee surgery for a torn meniscus and had been prescribed two rounds of Vicodin back to back. My wife picked it up for me and I was unaware that the dosage frequency was reduced on the second bottle. So when I attempted to refill I was too early..
At first I was taken aback until i realized my error as Adrian pointed out that the prescription said 1 per does no longer 2 per dose. He said very calmly "are you not taking these pills according the prescription?" I was so embarrassed as he sat there waiting for an answer... but this is the kind of stuff that saves lives people.
Adrian and I are only acquaintances. Our wives know each other and our children go to the same school. That's a lot of social pressure coming to bare on this young man but he stood firm and said "I won't be able to fill this until Saturday"
That is the kind of decision that saves lives. You see Adrian does not know that I work in the field of substance abuse, studying it a PhD level. He does not know that I am authoring a book on the topic of addiction. ... but he does know his job and his responsibility to my well being. I am proud to say that the system works and so do some of the people in it.
What Adrian the Pharmacists did was not allow our acquaintance to factor into his decision but more than that, he did not allow my body to have more narcotics in it than my doctor intended for me to have. This type of decision saves lives and families.
Addiction has impacted 2 out of every 3 families. That is 25 million Americans who are suffering from the disease of addiction. Last week I may have been helped by a Pharmacist to ensure it didn't become 25 million and 1. I have worked with enough families and clients to know that addiction can get anybody. That is why there are safeguards in place like the one Adrian enacted.
When the system works lives can be saved. When those working in the system care, then lives are saved.
